Marantz MM7055 Five-Channel Power Amplifier

The MM7055 is ideal for a “5.1” home theater system, whether based on a moderately powered receiver or a surround sound processor.  You can use it to power speakers in different areas of your home; stereo reproduction in two rooms, plus a mono channel for secondary areas such as a den or kitchen.

This heavy-duty amp pumps 140 watts of high-current power from each of its five channels. A massive power supply, cooling “thermal tunnels,” and foolproof connectivity explain why Home Theater raves MM7055 “offers excellent value for the money.”

Stuffed with amplifier boards derived from the Marantz Reference SM-11 amplifier, MM7055 sounds bigger, beefy, and musical. It has power to spare, too, with 140Wpc on tap and a massive EI core transformer delivering plenty of current to drive even notoriously difficult loudspeakers. A gorgeous faceplate, part of Marantz’s new aesthetic, claims a composite of aluminum and non-resonant resin. This rounded design, adorned with the Reference Series’ trademark “porthole” power light, gives MM7055a gloriously retro look with modern appeal.
Marantz bolted in a massive power supply with a multiple-secondary EI-core transformer and more than 65,000 µF of custom-designed energy storage capacity. This amplifier uses the LAPT Hyper Power output devices, first used in Reference Series components. Current feedback topology ensures astounding accuracy and control under high-demand conditions.
